| Posting Summary: The University of Virginia School of Architecture is seeking qualified candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, either tenure-track or non-tenure track depending on qualifications, to join the Landscape Architecture faculty and participate in its innovative teaching as well as creative research. Applicants for this position should be accomplished designers able to teach graduate landscape design studios in addition to required and elective coursework in their area of specialization. Faculty members at UVA are expected to teach, work with the Faculty, Chair and Dean in developing curriculum and serve on a range of academic committees, while vigorously pursuing an agenda of high profile design research, writing, and creative production. Candidates should exhibit digital and computational proficiency to teach technical course sequences which integrate ecological performance with construction technologies, including earthwork, material practices, planted form, and hydrological infrastructure. In addition to excellence in design of sites and systems, we seek applicants who will participate in cross-disciplinary curricular initiatives and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in landscape architecture in relationship to the other design arts, humanities and sciences through her/his creative work or scholarship. Expertise in living systems and cultural constructs that addresses urgent Anthropogenic issues such as climate change and socio-ecological challenges through design and scholarship are desired to enhance the School of Architecture's focus on global cities, large and small, and contested territories in between. Successful candidates for this position will have a terminal degree in Landscape Architecture (MLA) or equivalent as well as prior teaching and further experience and/or an advanced degree in their particular area of specialization. www.arch.virginia.edu|
