Lead Project Manager advises and directs the project management team in Facilities Operations on the proper development and execution of in-house projects less than $300,000. Manages the most complex, high profile projects that impact the University from power distribution to campus wide network support systems. Creates detailed work plans, schedules, establishes and manages project budgets, assumes role as University's representative with contractors on many projects, serves as liaison to State Construction for code compliance in Facilities Operations. Advises and inspects in-house projects; keeps detailed project records; creates and executes bid documents/packages; provides high level customer contact with University administrators (i.e., Chancellor, Provost, Vice Chancellors). Also serves as a resource person to the engineers in the Office of Design and Construction.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
Facilities Operations is responsible for providing services relative to buildings and grounds maintenance, utilities, transportation, trash removal, central receiving, recycling, disposition of surplus property and moving and hauling. In addition Facilities Operations expanding responsibilities include providing support services for the instruction and research programs to achieve the University's mission, goals and objectives. Maintain, improve and expand all campus buildings, campus image and educational opportunities for all people. More specifically, the functions involve energy conservation, building renovation/repair, occupational safety and health, landscape design, event planning, vehicle and equipment maintenance/repair, motor pool and housekeeping services to 126 academic buildings, ten residences and seven farm buildings. The project management team is responsible for executing repair and renovation projects totaling <$300,000.

Bachelor’s Degree in the Engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Ten years of related experience.
North Carolina State license in one of the skill trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC).
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in construction management or related field.
