LDC is seeking an Intern Architect to work under the supervision of the lead Architect acting as mentor and overseeing the work and progress on a regular basis. The Intern Architect will be responsible for assisting the lead Architect in performing programing, design and permit construction drawings for wireless telecom projects.
This process will include learning and understanding the wireless telecom industry including:
technical aspects of wireless telecom
application of wireless telecom in the built environment
quick visualization and problem solving for these applications
clearly and effectively communicating design solutions in drawings, both hand sketches and CAD technology
The Intern Architect will also have responsibility for assisting the lead Architect in the management and coordination of engineering disciplines involved in wireless telecom including: structural, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical, civil, acoustical, and radio frequency engineering.
The Intern Architect will be expected to develop skills in connection with the business of wireless telecom, including defining, articulating and budgeting scope of services, along with communicating effectively with clients, consultants, co-workers and senior management. The Intern will ensure quality and timely delivery of projects assigned to them.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in streamlining the architectural design process from conceptual design through construction administration.
Engage in gathering wireless telecom existing field condition information via hand sketches, measurements (GPS, tape, range finder laser, micrometer, wheel) and photos, including photo-simulation candidates
Sketch on your feet in front of clients offering viable design solutions
Design schematics with a focus on space programming, site planning, elevations, sections, 3D renderings by hand/electronic models and architectural details of wireless telecom and other commercial projects
Assist lead Architect and other team members in construction drawings of wireless telecom standardized and custom design projects, including pre-manufactured modular building and equipment support systems associated with telecom facilities
Converse effectively and confidently with clients, co-workers, consultants.
Perform redline changes and revisions
Participate in the architectural design process, develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to the client or for agency approval
Develop project specifications from master specifications
Participate in the review of product or shop drawing submittals during the construction phase
Engage in finish reprographic scanning, copies, printing, and transmittals of original working drawings of current projects
Organize and maintain project files
Assist with contract administration responsibilities
Innovate new prototypes designed for the telecom industry
Engage in design development drawings and collaborate with the production staff for completion of technical details needed for construction drawings
Engage in balloon tests, visual impact studies, landscape design and NIER Reports
Education, Experience, Qualifications:
This is the entry level for professional classifications. Graduate of an accredited 4 or 5 year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, or Graduate Degree in Architecture. Zero or more years experience.
Prepare for registration or licensure as an Architect by working through the Intern Development Program (IDP) and begin accruing experience hours leading to the completion of the IDP program and taking the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE) as a prerequisite for licensure in the United States, Canada, and other countries.
